What you need:

  • 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut in small wedges
  • 4 oz can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 t black pepper
  • salt to taste

What you do:

  • Add all ingredients to a 31/2 quart crock-pot and mix.  Cook,
    covered, for 6 - 8 hours on low.  Serve with warm bread.
  • Add 1/2 - 1 t red pepper flakes for a spicier version.
