What you need:
- 3/4 lb beef stew meat
- 6 c water
- 6 t beef bouillon granules
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 2 ribs celery, sliced
- 2 medium carrots, sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 c potato, diced
- 1/3 c quick-cooking barley
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 t dried thyme
- 1/8 t black pepper
What you do:
- Add all ingredients except barley to a 4 quart or larger crock pot
/ slow cooker and mix. Cook, covered, for 7.5 hours on low. Remove cover, stir in barley, cover and cook for 30 minutes more. Remove bay leaf and serve.
