What you need:

  • 3 lbs beef stew meat
  • 2 (103/4 oz) cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 8 oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 c cooking sherry
  • 2 T vegetable oil
  • 1/8 t black pepper

What you do:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet.  Add beef to skillet and cook over high
    heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned,
    but not cooked through.  Place beef and remaining ingredients
    into a 3.5 quart or larger crock-pot and mix.  Cook, covered, for
    7-8 hours on low.  Best served with mashed potatoes, or over
    hot egg noodles.
