The popularity of rolls around the world is such that you will come across several varieties native to a particular country. While the Mexicans have their burritos, the Australians have the Chiko roll and several parts of Asia have the egg roll.
Americans have a lot of roll favorites as well such as the pepperoni roll, cinnamon roll and of course, sausage rolls. In this article, we feature 2 recipes to create lip smacking sausage rolls your family and friends will find difficult to resist!
Recipe #1: Italian Chicken Rolls
Delicious and crispy to the core, this recipe is worth your time and effort.
You will require 1 lb. Premio Sweet Italian sausage, boneless chicken breasts, yellow onion, red bell pepper and ricotta cheese. For a full list of ingredients and the quantity required of each, click here.
First, you will have to preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add sausages, chopped onions and bell pepper to a skillet. Cook till the sausages turn brown. Drain the liquid. Add ricotta cheese to the skillet. Mix well. Mix pepper, salt and Italian seasoning in a pan. Coat this seasoning mixture over the chicken. Fill the chicken breasts with 2 tablespoons of sausage mixture. Add an ounce of Swiss cheese.
Roll the chicken breasts and secure them with toothpicks. Mix seasoned bread crumbs, pepper, salt and Italian seasoning. Dip the rolled chicken in flour and buttermilk. Coat with breadcrumb mixture. Fry in vegetable oil until they turn golden. Transfer to baking pan and place in oven. Cook for 15 minutes.
Recipe #2: Sweet Sausage Cabbage Rolls
This recipe will require 1 medium-sized cabbage, a cup of medium grain white rice, 2 chicken bouillion cubes and Premio Sweet Italian sausage. For a full list of ingredients and the quantity required of each, click here.
Freeze the cabbage a night before making the rolls. Defrost the next day. Cut the core out and separate from the leaves. Boil 3 cups of water. Add rice and bouillion cubes and cook for a further 15 minutes.
Take a bowl and add sausage meat, black pepper and salt. After the rice is cooked, add it to the sausage mixture. Stir well. Lay out the cabbage leaves and fill with a tablespoon of filling. Roll them well and tuck in at the ends. Place in a pressure cooker and cover with tomato soup. Add half a can of water. Cook for an hour.
